Places of Interest

Historical Sites;

Princess Eulalia Park, features the statue of a princess whom the park was named and a memorial marker as a perennial remembrance to the founder of Puerto Princesa.

Plaza Cuartel, a restored ruin of an old garrison wherein the evening of December 14,1944, Japanese soldiers burned around 150 American prisoners of war in a tunnel found beneath the park's portal which nowstands as a grim reminder of World War II atrocities.

Immaculate Conception Cathedral, March 10, 1872, six (6) days after the Spanish expidition arrived in Puerto Princesa, the first mass was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Exequiel Moreno in the same place where the cathedral now stands.

Mendoza Park, named after Dr. Higinio Mendoza Sr., the war hero of Palawan. His resistance to Japanese control led to his execution on January 24, 1944 at Canigaran Beach.

Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, unique prison without bars was established by the Americans in 1904. The inmates tend vast farms instead of idly spending time behind bars.

Arts & Cultural Sites;

Palawan Museum, a repository of Palwan relics and artifacts. The artifacts unearthed from the Tabon Caves including a skullcap of the remains of a caveman carbon dated back to the early Paleolithic Era or about 22,000 years ago.

Galeri Kamarikutan, art gallery cum cafe' promotes the city's rich cultural heritage by featuring ethnic crafts and culture through monthly art exhibits and performances.

Weaving Centers, Rurungan sa Tubod Weaving Center and see how fabrics are woven in traditional Philippine looms.

Palawan State University Museum, a Learning Resouce Center features a museum within the campus of the first State University in the Southern Tagalog Region.

Ethnographic Museum, an interesting showcase of the customs and way of life of the two distinct ethnic groups, Bataks and Tagbanuas.

Nature & Leisure Places;

Firefly Watching, watch the sun descend along the horizon. at night, enjoy the magical sight of the fireflies admist the mangroves.

Puerto Princesa Bay, provide a glimpse of the bay area's varied attractions, foremost is the port of Puerto Princesa or the Princess of Ports from which the city get its name.

Ulugan Bay, a deep channel on the central western coast of Puerto Princesa, Rita Island, inside the bay, known for its diving spots. Tres Marias, a cluster of three islets stand guard at the mouth of the bay.
